Trees and Nature
In the historic park of Villa Pianciani
many original and century-old trees still live today, authentic witnesses of history and the passage of time.
The grand entrance avenue is lined with imposing and majestic specimens, among which stand out several Downy oaks (Quercus pubescens), ancient Strawberry trees (Arbutus unedo), and at least six Holm oaks (Quercus ilex), all officially recognized at the national level as monumental trees.
Within the park one also encounters the ancient and spectacular Cypresses (Cupressus sempervirens), which form the dramatic backdrop in front of the villa, in the north gazebo a monumental Wisteria (Wisteria sinensis) and a centuries-old Rosa banksiae. Along the northern Cocchi, on the way to the Chapel, still grows a very old monumental Manna ash (Fraxinus ornus) while in the Secret Garden stand several historic Strawberry trees (Arbutus unedo), among the oldest in central Italy.
Completing this extraordinary botanical heritage are a majestic Holm oak (Quercus ilex) between the south gazebo and the villa’s façade, and a monumental Downy oak (Quercus pubescens) on the northern side, near the ruin by the parking area—presences that bestow upon the landscape a sense of grandeur and timeless beauty.
