The Restoration

Restoring an historic park ..

means bringing back to life not only the artistic features but also a complex and ever-changing ecosystem, combining historical, architectural, environmental, and agronomic knowledge.

Between 1792 and 1817, Valadier designed the villa and the park by blending Italian, French, and English styles according to the model of the ferme ornée, where aesthetics and agriculture coexist in harmony.

The recent restoration works, supported by the GARDS project and funded by the PNRR EU M1C3 INTERVENTION 2.3 – HISTORICAL PARKS AND GARDENS, have returned splendor to the estate: monumental trees, perspective avenues, belvederes, and historic structures have been recovered through targeted interventions to restore safety, light, and wide panoramic views.

A major investment concerned the infrastructures (fire-prevention, photovoltaic, water, and electrical systems) and the Pomario (ancient orchard) rebuilt and expanded with over 150 ancient varieties of fruit trees—some dating back to the Renaissance—in order to preserve the memory and biodiversity of the site.

Thanks to the work of a multidisciplinary team and the dedication of the owners, the park has regained its original beauty, once again offering visitors unique landscapes and atmospheres of rare fascination.
