In collaboration with the Matilde Pianciani Cultural Association and the Center for Arts, Design and Social Research, the Laboratory took place at Villa Pianciani from October 8 to 15, 2024.
The Laboratory for Planetary Arts is an intensive research residency and artistic research workshop organized in collaboration with CAD+SR and the Matilde Pianciani Cultural Association (ACMP). Funded by the European Union’s Next Generation EU program through the company Giove Informatica, the Laboratory is part of the broader revitalization project of the historic park of Villa Pianciani, which includes the restoration of lost trees, the enhancement of the rose garden, the creation of a new orchard featuring ancient local varieties among the species named in nineteenth-century garden documents, the “sensory garden,” and the herb garden.
Participating artists and researchers engaged with the political, cultural, and scientific significance of gardens and their role in rethinking or reaffirming relationships between human beings and the planet itself.
