The Chapel

A Small Neoclassical Jewel

The Chapel of Blessed Amedeo, a small gem of Italian Neoclassicism and also a work by Valadier, stands behind the main Casino, at the highest point of the hill. For the façade, the Roman architect adopted a Doric order, a solution that was later repeated in many of the most important architectural works of the following years.
The triangular pediment, the four-column portico, and the symmetrical layout of the single nave with a barrel vault and two side sacristies reveal strong links with Palladian architecture.

The Interior of the Chapel of Beato Amedeo

The interior, with its valuable period decorations, is still partly in need of restoration.
The chapel has a single nave covered by a barrel vault ending in a semicircular apse, where the main altar stands and the relics of Blessed Amedeo are kept. Along the long sides of the nave, at the two arched recesses, are the two side altars.
