The Buildings of the Complex

The Buildings of the Villa Pianciani Complex

The heart of the complex is the Villa, once called the Main Casino: majestic and scenographic, it has been restored and brought back to its splendor, with an elegant contemporary touch.

On the highest point of the hill stands the Chapel, characterized by the portico with four columns. Still partly to be restored, it preserves the charm of a place suspended in time.

Next to the Villa is the Annex, known in the past as the Old Kitchens: a three-story building internally connected to the main residence, now completely recovered and fully functional.

In the park, the remains of two symmetrical buildings can still be recognized. On one side, the former two-story construction, now called the Ruin, which once housed agricultural activities and horse stables; on the other, the wooden Barrack, of which only the cobblestone and brick pavement remains, visible in the lawn in front of the Secret Garden.

Completing the complex is the Casale dei Rombi, a typical two-story rural farmhouse. Located within the property but outside the park, partially independent both in access and structure.

The Restoration Works

In 2010, with the support of a state contribution, an extensive restoration project has been completed on the Villa and the Annex ( Casino delle Vecchie Cucine.) The works included structural reinforcement and seismic upgrading.

In agreement with the Umbrian Fine Arts Authority, much of the original design was reinstated, restoring unity and harmony to the architectural layout. Alongside structural consolidation—carried out with special care for the original materials—many of the decorative elements have been also restored. The renewed spaces were reinterpreted with solutions that combine contemporary artistic sensitivity with modern living functionality.
